
Nurse Practitioner - OB/GYN Triage

- Conduct initial assessments of patients in the OB/GYN Triage department, gathering relevant information on their medical history, current symptoms, and any previous pregnancy complications.
- Utilize critical thinking skills and medical knowledge to accurately identify potential risks and complications for pregnant patients, and determine appropriate course of action.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families on prenatal care, pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum care.
- Perform various diagnostic tests and procedures, such as ultrasounds and fetal monitoring, to monitor fetal health and identify any potential issues.
- Administer medications and treatments, following established protocols and guidelines, to manage symptoms and promote optimal health for patients.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting all assessments, treatments, and interventions in electronic medical records.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing clear and concise explanations of medical conditions and treatment plans.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices and advancements in the field of women's health.
- Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and protocols, as well as legal and ethical standards, to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and staff.
- Collaborate with the OB/GYN Triage team to identify areas for improvement and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring that their needs and concerns are addressed and that they receive the highest level of care and support.

Current Nurse Practitioner License: A Valid And Up-To-Date License As A Nurse Practitioner In The State Of New York Is A Must-Have Qualification For This Role.
Specialization In Obstetrics And Gynecology: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Background And Experience In The Field Of Obstetrics And Gynecology To Effectively Handle Triage Calls Related To Pregnancy, Labor, And Postpartum Care.
Advanced Practice Certification: Candidates Should Hold A Valid Certification As An Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner From A Recognized Institution.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Role Of A Nurse Practitioner In Ob/Gyn Triage Requires Constant Communication With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For This Role.
Prior Experience In Triage: Northwell Health Prefers Candidates With Prior Experience In Triage, Specifically In An Ob/Gyn Setting. This Will Ensure That The Candidate Is Familiar With The Protocols And Procedures Involved In Handling Urgent Calls From Patients.
