
Pathologist Assistant

- Assist pathologists in the preparation and examination of tissue specimens for diagnosis.
- Perform gross examinations of surgical specimens, including dissection, description, and photography.
- Prepare and process tissue specimens for microscopic examination.
- Accurately record and document all procedures and findings in medical records.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure the accuracy and integrity of specimens.
- Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate diagnosis.
- Perform special procedures, such as frozen section analysis and immunohistochemistry.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while handling potentially infectious materials.
- Monitor and order supplies to ensure an adequate inventory for the pathology department.
- Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Provide training and guidance to other laboratory staff, as needed.
- Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and stay updated on advancements in the field of pathology.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the department supervisor or pathologists.
Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field (E.g. Biology, Chemistry, Or Medical Laboratory Science)
Certification As A Pathologists' Assistant (Pa) From The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp)
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory Or Pathology Setting
Strong Knowledge And Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Anatomy, And Histology
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively As Part Of A Multidisciplinary Team.
