- Provide compassionate and high-quality care to postpartum mothers and their newborns during the critical postpartum period.
- Assess the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of postpartum patients and provide appropriate nursing care.
- Monitor and document vital signs, progress, and any changes in condition.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.
- Educate new mothers on postpartum care, including breastfeeding, infant care, and self-care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to new mothers and their families.
- Assist with postpartum procedures, such as episiotomies and c-section wound care.
- Respond to emergencies and provide immediate care and interventions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.
- Follow all hospital policies, protocols, and procedures to ensure patient safety and quality of care.
- Continuously update and enhance knowledge and skills through educational opportunities and professional development.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients and their families.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices.
- Act as an advocate for patients and their families, promoting their rights and ensuring their needs are met.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive, holistic care to patients.
- Serve as a resource for patients, families, and colleagues regarding postpartum care and women's health issues.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards in all aspects of patient care.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Adhere to Northwell Health's mission, vision, and values in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: The Candidate Should Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing From An Accredited Institution.
Active Rn License: The Candidate Should Have An Active And Unrestricted Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Of New York.
Minimum 2 Years Of Postpartum Nursing Experience: The Candidate Should Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Registered Nurse In A Postpartum Unit.
Bls And Nrp Certifications: The Candidate Should Hold Current Certifications In Basic Life Support (Bls) And Neonatal Resuscitation Program (Nrp).
Knowledge Of Postpartum Care And Complications: The Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Postpartum Care And Common Complications That Can Occur After Childbirth, Including Postpartum Hemorrhage, Cesarean Section Recovery, And Postpartum Depression.
