- Provide lactation support and counseling to new mothers and their babies in accordance with evidence-based practices and guidelines.
- Assess and evaluate breastfeeding techniques and provide education and resources to improve mother and baby bonding and overall health.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for breastfeeding mothers and infants.
- Conduct breastfeeding classes and support groups to educate and empower new mothers on the benefits of breastfeeding.
- Advocate for and promote healthy breastfeeding practices within the community.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Stay current on the latest research, trends, and best practices in lactation support and incorporate into practice.
- Serve as a resource and provide guidance to nursing staff and other healthcare providers on lactation-related issues.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to lactation support.
- Cultivate a compassionate and supportive environment for new mothers and their families.
- Collaborate with community organizations and resources to provide additional support and resources for breastfeeding mothers.
- Adhere to all regulatory and safety standards, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

- Continuously assess and improve lactation support services to meet the changing needs of the community.

Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Is Required For The Rn Lactation Consultant Position At Northwell Health. This Degree Provides A Strong Foundation In Nursing Principles And Clinical Skills That Are Essential For Providing Lactation Support To Patients.
