Job Description

Novant Health is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Hospitalist Physician Assistant to join our dedicated team. As a Hospitalist PA, you will play a crucial role in providing expert medical care to our patients during their stay at our hospital.   1. Provide expert medical care to hospitalized patients in collaboration with the attending physician.
  2. Conduct thorough medical assessments and develop treatment plans for patients.
  3. Monitor and manage patient progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
  4. Perform procedures such as venipuncture, wound care, and catheter insertion as needed.
  5. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work and imaging studies.
  6. Administer medications and monitor their effectiveness and potential side effects.
  7. Provide patient and family education on medical conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
  8. Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
  9. Document patient care and treatment plans accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record.
  10. Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and protocols in the delivery of patient care.
  11. Maintain a high level of compassion and empathy towards patients and their families.
  12. Continuously update knowledge and skills through participation in professional development opportunities.
  13. Adhere to ethical and legal standards in the practice of medicine and patient care.
  14. Uphold the organization's values of excellence, compassion, and integrity in all aspects of work.
  15. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while interacting with patients, families, and colleagues.
  16. Act as a patient advocate to ensure their needs and preferences are considered in their care.
  17. Assist in the coordination of discharge planning and follow-up care for patients.
  18. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  19. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  20. Collaborate with hospital leadership and other healthcare professionals to identify and implement best practices for patient care.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Physician Assistant Studies From An Accredited Program.

  • Current And Valid Physician Assistant License In The State Of North Carolina.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In An Acute Care Or Hospital Setting.

  • Board Certification Through The National Commission On Certification Of Physician Assistants (Nccpa).

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively In A Multidisciplinary Team.
