- Develop and implement strategies to optimize patient flow and capacity management across all departments and facilities within the organization.
- Monitor and analyze data on patient volume, resource utilization, and throughput to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
- Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical departments to establish and maintain effective communication and coordination of patient flow processes.
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Capacity and Patient Flow department, including staffing, training, and performance management.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, such as hospitals and clinics, to ensure a smooth patient transfer process.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices related to patient flow and capacity management, and make recommendations for process improvements.
- Conduct regular audits and quality checks to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and organizational policies.
- Lead and facilitate multidisciplinary teams to address patient flow challenges and implement process improvements.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure that technology systems and tools are optimized to support efficient patient flow and capacity management.
- Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging staff to identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance patient care and efficiency.
- Serve as a liaison between the Capacity and Patient Flow department and other departments within the organization, promoting open communication and teamwork.
- Develop and manage department budget, including forecasting and cost-saving initiatives.
- Ensure that all staff members are trained and educated on patient flow processes and procedures.
- Handle any patient or staff complaints related to patient flow and capacity management, and work towards resolving issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Participate in organizational meetings and committees to provide insights and updates on patient flow and capacity management.
Strong Leadership Skills: A Manager Capacity & Patient Flow At Novant Health Should Possess Excellent Leadership Skills To Effectively Manage And Oversee A Team Of Healthcare Professionals. This Includes The Ability To Delegate Tasks, Provide Guidance And Support, And Make Strategic Decisions To Optimize Patient Flow And Capacity.
Knowledge Of Patient Flow Processes: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Patient Flow Processes And Be Able To Identify Areas For Improvement To Enhance Efficiency And Improve Patient Experience. This Includes Knowledge Of Triage, Admission, Discharge, And Transfer Procedures.
Experience In Healthcare Management: A Manager Capacity & Patient Flow Should Have Prior Experience In Healthcare Management, Preferably In A Hospital Or Clinic Setting. This Includes The Ability To Manage Budgets, Implement Policies And Procedures, And Handle Staffing And Scheduling.
Strong Interpersonal And Communication Skills: An Effective Manager Capacity & Patient Flow Should Have Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Staff, Patients, And Other Departments. This Includes The Ability To Communicate Clearly And Professionally, Resolve Conflicts, And Build Positive Relationships.
Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: The Role Of A Manager Capacity & Patient Flow Involves Analyzing Data And Identifying Areas For Improvement To Optimize Patient Flow And Capacity.
