We are currently seeking a Surgical Technology Extern to join our team, with hourly pay and up to $3,000 relocation assistance provided.   1. Perform duties in accordance with Novant Health's mission and values, providing exceptional healthcare services to our community.
  2. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient and safe delivery of patient care.
  3. Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  4. Assist with setting up and preparing the operating room and surgical equipment for procedures.
  5. Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments and equipment.
  6. Assist surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and providing other necessary support.
  7. Monitor and document patient vitals and assist with positioning patients for surgery.
  8. Ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are available for each procedure.
  9. Participate in on-the-job training and educational opportunities to enhance surgical technology skills and knowledge.
  10. Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
  11. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to provide a positive and welcoming environment.
  12. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to surgical procedures.
  13. Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care and safety.
  14. Maintain a professional and positive attitude at all times.
  15. Perform any other duties as assigned by the surgical team or supervisor.

Job Qualifications

  • Completion Of An Accredited Surgical Technology Program: Candidates For This Position Should Have Completed A Surgical Technology Program From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That They Have Received Proper Training And Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Job Effectively.

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (Cst) Certification: Having A Cst Certification Is Highly Preferred For This Position. This Certification Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Passed A Rigorous Exam And Has Met The Standards Set By The National Board Of Surgical Technology And Surgical Assisting (Nbstsa).

  • Previous Experience In A Surgical Setting: Candidates Should Have Previous Experience Working In A Surgical Environment, Preferably In A Hospital Or Medical Center. This Experience Will Help Them Understand The Fast-Paced Nature Of The Job And The Importance Of Following Strict Protocols And Procedures.

  • Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills: Surgical Technologists Work Closely With Surgeons, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals. It Is Essential For Candidates To Have Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills To Ensure Efficient And Effective Patient Care.

  • Willingness To Relocate: This Position Offers Up To $3,000 In Relocation Assistance, So Candidates Should Be Open To Relocating To Work At A Novant Health Facility In A Different Location. This Demonstrates A Commitment To The Job And A Willingness To Adapt To New Environments.
