  1. Develop educational materials and programs for expecting parents to prepare them for childbirth.
  2. Conduct classes and workshops for expecting parents to educate them on the various stages of childbirth, pain management techniques, and postpartum care.
  3. Create a supportive, non-judgmental environment for expecting parents to ask questions and share their concerns.
  4. Stay updated on current research and trends in childbirth education to provide the most relevant and accurate information to expecting parents.
  5. Collaborate with healthcare providers and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to childbirth education.
  6. Assess the needs and learning styles of individual parents and tailor the education program to meet their specific needs.
  7. Demonstrate empathy and compassion towards expecting parents, acknowledging the emotional and physical challenges of pregnancy and childbirth.
  8. Provide resources and referrals for additional support services, such as lactation consultants or mental health professionals.
  9. Maintain accurate records of class attendance and evaluations to track program effectiveness and make necessary improvements.
  10. Act as a positive role model for expecting parents, promoting healthy habits and self-care practices during pregnancy and childbirth.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge And Experience In Childbirth Education: A Qualified Candidate For The Childbirth Educator Position At Piedmont Healthcare Should Have A Strong Background And Experience In Childbirth Education, Including Knowledge Of The Stages Of Labor, Pain Management Techniques, And Breastfeeding Support.

  • Certification In Childbirth Education: Piedmont Healthcare Prefers Candidates Who Have Obtained Certification In Childbirth Education, Such As The Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (Lcce) Or The International Childbirth Education Association (Icea) Certification.

  • Excellent Communication And Teaching Skills: The Childbirth Educator At Piedmont Healthcare Will Be Responsible For Teaching Expectant Parents About The Childbirth Process And Providing Them With Evidence-Based Information. Strong Communication And Teaching Skills Are Essential For This Role.

  • Understanding Of Cultural Competency: Piedmont Healthcare Values Diversity And Requires Candidates For The Childbirth Educator Position To Have An Understanding Of Cultural Competency And The Ability To Provide Education To A Diverse Population.

  • Experience In A Healthcare Setting: While Not Required, Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Specifically In A Maternity Or Childbirth Education Department, Is Preferred For The Childbirth Educator Role At Piedmont Healthcare. This Experience Can Demonstrate An Understanding Of The Healthcare System And The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Other Healthcare Professionals.
