Job Description

Are you passionate about supporting expecting families through the journey of childbirth? Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Childbirth Educator to join our team. As a Childbirth Educator, you will have the opportunity to educate and empower expecting parents with the information and resources they need to make informed decisions during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. We are looking for a compassionate and experienced individual with a strong background in childbirth education and a desire to make a positive impact in the lives of our patients.   1. Develop and implement comprehensive childbirth education curriculum for expecting parents.
  2. Conduct group and individual classes to educate expecting parents on pregnancy, labor, and postpartum care.
  3. Provide evidence-based information and resources to expecting parents to help them make informed decisions.
  4. Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive approach to patient care.
  5. Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify the specific needs of expecting parents and tailor education programs accordingly.
  6. Keep up-to-date with the latest research and developments in the field of childbirth education and incorporate them into the curriculum.
  7. Provide emotional support and guidance to expecting parents as they navigate the journey of childbirth.
  8. Collaborate with community organizations and resources to provide additional support and resources for expecting parents.
  9. Maintain accurate and detailed records of classes, attendance, and evaluations.
  10. Continuously evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the childbirth education program.
  11. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities to stay current in the field.
  12. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  13. Serve as a positive and professional representative of Piedmont Healthcare and actively promote the organization's mission and values.
  14. Maintain confidentiality and privacy of patients and their families.
  15. Uphold a high level of professionalism and ethical standards in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Childbirth Educator: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Certification In Childbirth Education From A Recognized Organization, Such As Lamaze International Or The International Childbirth Education Association (Icea).

  • Extensive Knowledge Of Childbirth: The Candidate Should Possess A Thorough Understanding Of The Stages Of Labor And Delivery, Medical Interventions, Pain Management Techniques, And Postpartum Care.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills Are Essential For A Childbirth Educator To Effectively Teach And Support Expectant Parents. The Candidate Should Be Able To Explain Complex Medical Information In A Clear And Understandable Manner.

  • Experience In Teaching: Previous Experience As A Childbirth Educator, Nurse, Or Doula Is Preferred. This Will Demonstrate The Candidate's Ability To Effectively Teach And Support Parents During The Childbirth Process.

  • Empathy And Compassion: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Sense Of Empathy And Compassion Towards Expectant Parents. Childbirth Can Be A Vulnerable And Emotional Experience, And The Childbirth Educator Should Be Able To Provide Emotional Support And Guidance To Parents During This Time.
