
Emergency Department Technician

- Provide support to medical staff in the emergency department by assisting with patient care, procedures, and treatments.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment in the emergency department, ensuring that all supplies and equipment are readily available.
- Monitor and report changes in patient conditions to medical staff.
- Assist with patient intake, including taking vital signs, obtaining medical history, and preparing patients for examinations.
- Prepare and stock exam rooms with necessary supplies and equipment.
- Transport patients to and from various areas within the hospital as needed.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety by responding promptly to requests for assistance.
- Follow all hospital protocols and procedures, as well as maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain and improve skills and knowledge.
- Adhere to infection control and safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to provide the best possible care for patients.
- Handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently, following proper protocols.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care and procedures.
- Adhere to all legal and ethical standards in healthcare.
- Continuously strive to provide exceptional care and customer service to patients and their families.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing paperwork.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in emergency care.
- Attend departmental meetings and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned by the emergency department manager or supervising medical staff.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For An Emergency Department Technician Position At Providence St. Joseph Health Is A High School Diploma Or Ged Equivalent. This Demonstrates Basic Knowledge And Skills In Areas Such As Math, Science, And Communication.
Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: As An Emergency Department Technician, It Is Essential To Have A Bls Certification To Provide Basic Life Support And Cpr In Emergency Situations. This Certification Shows That The Candidate Is Trained And Competent To Respond To Medical Emergencies.
Previous Experience In A Medical Setting: Previous Experience As A Medical Assistant, Emt, Or In A Similar Role Is Highly Desirable For This Position. This Experience Shows That The Candidate Has A Basic Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Equipment, And Procedures.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Emergency Department Technicians Need To Communicate Effectively With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals. They Also Need To Work Well In A Fast-Paced And Stressful Environment, Requiring Excellent Interpersonal Skills.
Ability To Multitask And Work Under Pressure: Working In An Emergency Department Can Be Chaotic And Unpredictable. The Ideal Candidate Should Be Able To Multitask, Prioritize, And Work Well Under Pressure While Maintaining A Calm And Professional Demeanor.
