
Social Worker (MSW) - Peds Oncology

- Conduct assessments and provide support to pediatric oncology patients and their families in order to promote their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients.
- Facilitate communication and provide resources to families to help them understand and cope with their child's diagnosis and treatment.
- Offer counseling and emotional support to patients and families, including individual and group therapy sessions.
- Advocate for patients and families by addressing their needs and concerns and connecting them with appropriate community resources and services.
- Provide education and resources to patients and families regarding their rights, treatment options, and support services.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient interactions, assessments, and care plans.
- Attend and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and provide input on patient care and treatment plans.
- Stay up-to-date on best practices and standards of care in pediatric oncology social work and contribute to the development and implementation of new programs and initiatives.
- Serve as a supportive and compassionate presence for patients and families during difficult and challenging times.
- Uphold ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in all patient interactions.
- Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to develop and maintain strong partnerships and resources for patients and families.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in the field of pediatric oncology social work.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Foster a positive and supportive work environment through effective communication and teamwork.
Master's Degree In Social Work (Msw) From An Accredited University: The Ideal Candidate For This Position Should Possess A Master's Degree In Social Work, With A Focus On Pediatric Oncology. This Degree Will Provide The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Work With Children And Families Facing The Challenges Of Cancer.
Licensure As A Clinical Social Worker: To Work As A Social Worker In A Healthcare Setting, A Valid Clinical Social Work License Is Required. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Met The Necessary Standards And Has The Expertise To Provide Quality Care To Patients.
Experience Working In A Pediatric Oncology Setting: Previous Experience Working With Children And Families In A Pediatric Oncology Setting Is Highly Desirable For This Position. It Demonstrates The Candidate's Understanding Of The Unique Challenges And Needs Of This Patient Population.
Knowledge Of Psychosocial Interventions And Counseling Techniques: As A Social Worker In Pediatric Oncology, The Candidate Must Have A Comprehensive Understanding Of Various Psychosocial Interventions And Counseling Techniques. This Includes Crisis Intervention, Grief Counseling, And Family Therapy, Among Others.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: This Role Involves Collaborating With A Multidisciplinary Team, Including Physicians, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals. The Ideal Candidate Should Possess Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact And Build Relationships With Patients, Families, And Colleagues.
