Welcome to Salem Health! We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Patient Safety Companion. In this role, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients during their hospital stay. As a Patient Safety Companion, you will provide one-on-one support and supervision to patients who may be at risk for falls, wandering, or other safety concerns. We are looking for someone who is empathetic, patient, and able to build rapport with patients and their families. - Provide one-on-one support and supervision to patients who may be at risk for falls, wandering, or other safety concerns.
- Monitor patients' behaviors and movements to identify and prevent potential safety hazards.
- Communicate with patients and their families to ensure understanding and compliance with safety protocols.
- Establish and maintain a positive and supportive relationship with patients and their families.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to any safety concerns or emergencies.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized patient safety plans.
- Document and report any significant changes in patient behavior or incidents.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients.
- Attend training and education sessions to stay updated on safety protocols and procedures.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude while representing Salem Health.
- Foster a culture of safety and actively participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Utilize effective communication skills to provide emotional support to patients and their families.
- Maintain accurate records of all patient interactions and interventions.
- Continuously evaluate and assess patient safety needs and make recommendations for improvement.
Excellent Communication Skills: A Patient Safety Companion Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Family Members, And Healthcare Staff. This Includes Active Listening, Clear And Concise Verbal Communication, And Written Communication Skills.
Medical Knowledge And Training: A Patient Safety Companion Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Basic Medical Terminology, Procedures, And Protocols. This Can Include Training In First Aid, Cpr, And Other Emergency Procedures.
Empathy And Compassion: Working With Patients Who May Be In Vulnerable Or Stressful Situations Requires A High Level Of Empathy And Compassion. A Patient Safety Companion Must Be Able To Provide Emotional Support And Comfort To Patients And Their Families.
Attention To Detail: Patient Safety Is Of The Utmost Importance, And A Companion Must Be Detail-Oriented And Able To Closely Monitor A Patient's Condition, Behavior, And Surroundings. This Includes Being Able To Identify Potential Safety Hazards And Report Them To Healthcare Staff.
Teamwork And Flexibility: The Role Of A Patient Safety Companion Often Involves Working Closely With Healthcare Staff And Other Team Members. The Ability To Collaborate And Adapt To Changing Situations Is Crucial For Success In This Role.
