  1. Perform blood draws and collect blood samples from patients in a safe, efficient, and compassionate manner.
  2. Ensure accurate identification and labeling of blood samples.
  3. Follow proper protocols and infection control procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  4. Handle and process blood samples according to established procedures and protocols.
  5. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all blood samples collected.
  6. Communicate with patients to explain procedures and alleviate any fears or concerns.
  7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate processing and delivery of samples.
  8. Adhere to all regulatory and safety standards in the handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  9. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or discrepancies with collected samples or equipment.
  10. Participate in ongoing training and education to stay updated on best practices and advancements in the field.
  11. Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families.
  12. Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor at all times.
  13. Work independently as well as in a team environment.

Job Qualifications

  • Completion Of An Accredited Phlebotomy Training Program: Candidates For A Phlebotomist Position At Salem Health Must Have Completed A Formal Training Program In Phlebotomy From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Job Effectively.

  • Certification As A Phlebotomy Technician: Salem Health Requires Candidates To Have A Certification As A Phlebotomy Technician From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Phlebotomy Association (Npa). This Demonstrates The Candidate's Proficiency In The Field And Adherence To Industry Standards.

  • Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In A Hospital Or Clinic, Is Highly Desired For A Phlebotomist Position At Salem Health. This Shows That The Candidate Is Familiar With The Healthcare Environment And Has Experience Working With Patients.

  • Knowledge Of Safety And Infection Control Procedures: Phlebotomists Are Responsible For Collecting Blood And Other Specimens From Patients, Making It Essential For Them To Have A Thorough Understanding Of Safety And Infection Control Procedures. Candidates Must Demonstrate Their Knowledge In These Areas To Ensure The Safety Of Themselves And The Patients.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: A Phlebotomist Interacts With Patients On A Daily Basis, Making It Crucial For Them To Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills. Candidates Must Be Able To Put Patients At Ease, Explain Procedures Clearly, And Handle Any Concerns Or Questions That May Arise.
