- Perform phlebotomy procedures in a safe and accurate manner, adhering to all established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Properly identify patients and specimens, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.
- Collect and prepare blood and other specimens for testing, following proper handling and storage procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper disposal of biohazardous materials.
- Provide exceptional patient care by maintaining a calm and professional demeanor and addressing any patient concerns or questions.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Keep accurate records of specimens collected and testing performed.
- Continuously update knowledge and skills related to phlebotomy techniques, safety procedures, and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, coworkers, and supervisors to promote a positive and productive work environment.
- Follow all department policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
- Attend and actively participate in department meetings and trainings.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For A Phlebotomist/Specimen Collection Job At Salem Health Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Basic Knowledge And Skills Necessary For The Job.
Certified Phlebotomy Technician (Cpt) Credential: Salem Health Requires Candidates To Have A Cpt Credential From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha).
