- Perform phlebotomy procedures in a safe and accurate manner, adhering to all established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Properly identify patients and specimens, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.
- Collect and prepare blood and other specimens for testing, following proper handling and storage procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper disposal of biohazardous materials.
- Provide exceptional patient care by maintaining a calm and professional demeanor and addressing any patient concerns or questions.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Keep accurate records of specimens collected and testing performed.
- Continuously update knowledge and skills related to phlebotomy techniques, safety procedures, and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, coworkers, and supervisors to promote a positive and productive work environment.
- Follow all department policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
- Attend and actively participate in department meetings and trainings.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For A Phlebotomist/Specimen Collection Job At Salem Health Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Basic Knowledge And Skills Necessary For The Job.
Certified Phlebotomy Technician (Cpt) Credential: Salem Health Requires Candidates To Have A Cpt Credential From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha). This Certification Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Received Proper Training And Has The Necessary Skills To Perform Phlebotomy And Collect Specimens Accurately.
Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Candidates For A Phlebotomist/Specimen Collection Job At Salem Health Should Have Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting.
