Job Description

Are you a highly skilled and experienced real estate appraiser looking for a new opportunity to lead and make a difference? The State of Pennsylvania is seeking a Chief Real Estate Appraiser to oversee the appraisal process for all state-owned properties. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and fair assessments, as well as providing guidance and direction to a team of appraisers. We are looking for a motivated and knowledgeable individual who is ready to take on this challenging yet rewarding role.   1. Manage and oversee the appraisal process for all state-owned properties in the state of Pennsylvania.
  2. Ensure that all appraisals are accurate and fair, following state and federal guidelines.
  3. Provide guidance and direction to a team of appraisers, including training and development opportunities.
  4. Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the appraisal process.
  5. Conduct research and analysis on real estate market trends and property values to inform appraisal decisions.
  6. Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure consistency and accuracy in property valuations.
  7. Review and approve appraisals conducted by staff and outside contractors.
  8. Attend meetings and hearings to represent the state's interests in real estate appraisal matters.
  9. Advise and consult with senior management on real estate appraisal issues and strategies.
  10. Stay up-to-date on industry standards and regulations related to real estate appraisal.
  11. Foster a positive and professional work environment for the appraiser team.
  12. Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including property owners and local government officials.
  13. Prepare and present reports and recommendations to senior management and state officials.
  14. Oversee the budget and resources for the appraisal department.
  15. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to appraiser team members.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Real Estate, Finance, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Real Estate Appraisal, Including Experience In A Supervisory Or Managerial Role.

  • Certified General Real Estate Appraiser License In The State Of Pennsylvania.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Real Estate Valuation Methods And Techniques, Including Proficiency With Appraisal Software And Databases.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Lead And Manage A Team Of Appraisers.
