• Manage and maintain the State of Pennsylvania's collection of historical materials, including books, documents, photographs, and other media
• Develop and implement collection management policies and procedures to ensure the proper preservation and organization of materials
• Catalog and classify materials using appropriate systems and standards to ensure accurate and efficient access to the collection
• Monitor the condition of materials and implement conservation measures as needed to preserve their physical integrity
• Collaborate with other librarians and staff to identify and acquire new materials for the collection
• Provide reference and research assistance to patrons and staff regarding the collection and its contents
• Utilize knowledge of library science and preservation techniques to identify and address potential risks to the collection, such as pests or environmental hazards
• Stay current with industry developments and best practices in collection management to continuously improve processes and procedures
• Train and supervise staff and volunteers in collection management tasks
• Communicate with donors, stakeholders, and other institutions to expand and enhance the collection through donations, exchanges, and partnerships
• Contribute to the promotion and outreach efforts of the library to increase awareness and usage of the collection.
