
Collection Management Librarian

- Manage and maintain the State of Pennsylvania's collection of historical materials, including books, documents, photographs, and other media
- Develop and implement collection management policies and procedures to ensure the proper preservation and organization of materials
- Catalog and classify materials using appropriate systems and standards to ensure accurate and efficient access to the collection
- Monitor the condition of materials and implement conservation measures as needed to preserve their physical integrity
- Collaborate with other librarians and staff to identify and acquire new materials for the collection
- Provide reference and research assistance to patrons and staff regarding the collection and its contents
- Utilize knowledge of library science and preservation techniques to identify and address potential risks to the collection, such as pests or environmental hazards
- Stay current with industry developments and best practices in collection management to continuously improve processes and procedures
- Train and supervise staff and volunteers in collection management tasks
- Communicate with donors, stakeholders, and other institutions to expand and enhance the collection through donations, exchanges, and partnerships
- Contribute to the promotion and outreach efforts of the library to increase awareness and usage of the collection.
Master's Degree In Library Science Or Related Field From An Ala-Accredited Institution.
Minimum Of 3 Years Experience In Collection Development And Management In A Library Setting.
Knowledge Of Current Trends And Best Practices In Collection Management, Including Budgeting, Acquisitions, And Evaluation.
Familiarity With Library Management Systems And Digital Content Platforms.
Strong Communication And Organizational Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Colleagues And Vendors.
