  1. Provide compassionate and empathetic support to individuals with mental illnesses or developmental disabilities.
  2. Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
  3. Monitor and report any changes in behavior or physical condition to supervising staff.
  4. Create a safe and supportive environment for individuals in the program.
  5. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress and interactions.
  6. Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with supervising staff and healthcare professionals.
  7. Participate in training and ongoing education to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of mental health and developmental disabilities.
  8. Foster positive relationships with clients and their families, promoting a sense of community and belonging.
  9. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for clients.
  10. Adhere to all state and federal regulations, as well as agency policies and procedures.
  11. Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all aspects of job responsibilities.
  12. Contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment by promoting teamwork and open communication.
  13. Attend and actively participate in team meetings, trainings, and other agency events as required.
  14. Demonstrate a commitment to the agency's mission and values in all interactions and duties.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For A Psychiatric Aide Job At State Of Pennsylvania Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Level Of Education And Can Effectively Communicate And Follow Instructions.

  • Experience In A Mental Health Setting: Candidates With Prior Experience Working In A Mental Health Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Residential Facility, Will Be Preferred For The Psychiatric Aide Job. This Experience Shows That The Candidate Has An Understanding Of Mental Health Disorders And The Ability To Handle Challenging Situations.

  • Cpr And First Aid Certification: Due To The Nature Of The Job, It Is Essential For A Psychiatric Aide To Have Current Cpr And First Aid Certification. This Ensures That They Can Respond Quickly And Effectively In Case Of An Emergency.

  • Physical And Mental Fitness: The Job Of A Psychiatric Aide Can Be Physically And Mentally Demanding. Therefore, Candidates Must Be In Good Physical And Mental Health To Perform The Job Duties Effectively. This May Include Passing A Physical Exam And A Mental Health Screening.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Psychiatric Aide, One Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals. This Requires Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills, As Well As The Ability To Be Empathetic And Build Rapport With Patients.
