Job Description

As a Probation/Parole Officer, you will play a crucial role in promoting public safety and helping individuals successfully reintegrate into society.   1. Conduct regular and thorough assessments of offenders to determine appropriate supervision and treatment plans.
  2. Monitor and enforce compliance with court-ordered conditions of probation and parole, such as drug testing, curfew, and community service.
  3. Develop and maintain positive relationships with offenders, their families, and community resources to support successful reintegration.
  4. Provide guidance and support to offenders in addressing criminogenic risk factors, such as substance abuse, mental health, and employment.
  5. Conduct home visits and maintain accurate and detailed case records to document offender progress and behaviors.
  6. Collaborate with other criminal justice professionals, such as judges, attorneys, and treatment providers, to ensure coordinated and effective supervision.
  7. Utilize evidence-based practices and techniques to promote positive behavior change and reduce recidivism.
  8. Respond quickly and appropriately to any violations of probation or parole, including providing recommendations for sanctions or modifications to conditions.
  9. Prepare and present comprehensive reports to the court regarding offender progress, compliance, and any necessary changes to supervision.
  10. Stay up-to-date on relevant laws, policies, and procedures related to probation and parole, and ensure compliance with all regulations and standards.
  11. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance job knowledge and skills.
  12. Act as a role model and mentor to offenders, promoting accountability, responsibility, and pro-social behavior.
  13. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with offenders, colleagues, and the community.
  14. Represent the department and the state positively and professionally at all times.
  15. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 1 Year Of Experience Working In Probation, Parole, Corrections, Or Related Field.

  • Knowledge Of Tennessee State Laws And Regulations Related To Probation And Parole.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Work With Offenders And Other Criminal Justice Professionals.

  • Ability To Pass A Background Check And Participate In Ongoing Training And Professional Development.
