- Develop and implement strategies to protect Stryker's intellectual property assets, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify potential areas of intellectual property risk and proactively develop solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and evaluate new inventions and innovations, and advise on the best methods for protecting these ideas.
- Manage the preparation, filing, and prosecution of patent and trademark applications, including responding to office actions and conducting patentability assessments.
- Conduct due diligence for potential mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships to assess intellectual property risks and advise on potential strategies for mitigating these risks.
- Provide legal counsel and guidance to internal stakeholders on matters related to intellectual property, including infringement claims, licensing agreements, and trade secret protection.
- Monitor and analyze changes in intellectual property laws and regulations, and advise on potential impacts to Stryker's intellectual property portfolio.
- Work closely with outside counsel to manage litigation related to intellectual property matters.
- Develop and deliver training programs and materials to educate employees on intellectual property laws, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with global teams to ensure consistency and compliance with intellectual property laws and regulations across all regions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of Stryker's intellectual property assets.
- Represent Stryker in external events and conferences related to intellectual property and innovation.
Law Degree: A Juris Doctor (J.d.) Degree From An Accredited Law School Is A Basic Requirement For An Intellectual Property Counsel Position At Stryker. This Degree Provides The Necessary Legal Foundation And Knowledge To Effectively Advise And Protect The Company's Intellectual Property.
Experience In Intellectual Property Law: Candidates For This Role Should Have A Minimum Of 5-7 Years Of Experience Practicing Intellectual Property Law, Particularly In The Medical Device Or Healthcare Industry. This Experience Should Include Patent Prosecution, Patent Litigation, And Trademark/Copyright Law.
In-Depth Knowledge Of Patent And Trademark Laws: A Strong Understanding Of Both Domestic And International Patent And Trademark Laws Is Essential For This Role. Intellectual Property Counsel At Stryker Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Managing Patent And Trademark Portfolios, Conducting Patent Searches, And Providing Legal Opinions On Patentability And Infringement.
Ability To Develop And Implement Ip Strategies: Stryker Is A Global Company With A Large And Diverse Portfolio Of Intellectual Property. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience In Developing And Implementing Ip Strategies That Align With The Company's Overall Business Objectives.
Strong Communication And Negotiation Skills: Intellectual Property Counsel At Stryker Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate Complex Legal Concepts To Non-Legal Stakeholders, Including Engineers, Scientists, And Business Leaders. They Should Also Possess Strong Negotiation Skills To Protect The Company's Intellectual Property Rights And Resolve Disputes.
