The University of Kansas is seeking a Writing Coach to join our team and provide one-on-one support to undergraduate and graduate students. As a Writing Coach, you will have the opportunity to work closely with students from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, empowering them to become confident and effective writers.   1. Provide one-on-one support to undergraduate and graduate students in developing their writing skills.
  2. Empower students from diverse backgrounds and disciplines to become confident and effective writers.
  3. Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for students seeking writing support.
  4. Demonstrate strong writing skills and a deep understanding of composition and rhetoric.
  5. Foster a culture of writing excellence among students.
  6. Work closely with students to identify their specific writing needs and tailor coaching sessions accordingly.
  7. Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students on their writing assignments.
  8. Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement writing workshops and programs.
  9. Stay updated on current trends and best practices in writing instruction and incorporate them into coaching sessions.
  10. Mentor and guide students in developing their own unique writing styles and voices.
  11. Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide reports to supervisors when necessary.
  12. Handle confidential student information with sensitivity and professionalism.
  13. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance coaching skills.
  14. Act as a positive role model and advocate for the importance of writing in academic and professional settings.
  15. Contribute to the overall success of the Writing Center and support its mission of promoting writing excellence at the University of Kansas.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In English, Creative Writing, Or A Related Field.

  • At Least 2 Years Of Experience In Coaching Or Tutoring Writing At The College Level.

  • Demonstrated Proficiency In Various Writing Styles, Including Academic, Creative, And Professional.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Provide Constructive Feedback And Support To Students.

  • Familiarity With Current Writing Resources And Software, Such As Online Writing Platforms And Citation Tools.
