Job Description

The electronics engineer is part of the magnetometer engineering team in the UCLA Department of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences, and is responsible for the design of electrical and firmware elements that enable high-accuracy magnetic sensors for spaceflight and ground-based measurements. The incumbent possesses a strong technical background in electronics design, analysis, and testing. Support for this position comes primarily from NASA projects and the deployment of magnetometers for spaceflight application, and the incumbent will work within a small team environment to become a primary technical contributor to the development of instrumentation from the concept stage through space deployment.

Job Qualifications
  • 4+ years relevant experience

  • Demonstrated experience with analog and digital circuit design using PC-based circuit design tools

  • Familiarity with digital electronic interfaces and design, including FPGAs and microcontrollers.

  • Demonstrated familiarity with magnetics measurement, fluxgate magnetometry, and/or electromagnetics compatibility testing.

  • Familiarity with aerospace/spaceflight electronics design standards
