Job Description

UNC Health Care is seeking a highly motivated Medical Technologist to join our team! This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for clinical laboratory science to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and help provide critical services to patients. The ideal candidate should be an experienced Medical Technologist with a strong background in the clinical laboratory setting as well as experience in sample preparation, testing, and reporting. We are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and has excellent communication skills. Required Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science• Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)• At least three years of experience working in a clinical laboratory setting• Proficiency in the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment• Working knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform routine and complex laboratory tests on blood and other body fluids using various laboratory instruments and techniques.
  2. Accurately record results and maintain detailed records of laboratory activities.
  3. Monitor and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  4. Prepare samples for testing and interpret test results according to established protocols.
  5. Maintain laboratory inventory and order supplies as needed.
  6. Participate in laboratory quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with established standards.
  7. Maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment.
  8. Provide technical guidance to laboratory staff and train new employees.
  9. Assist in the development and implementation of laboratory policies and procedures.
  10. Liaise with other medical professionals to provide patient care.
