Job Description

Our team is looking for a dedicated and experienced individual to join us in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our trailer fleet. As a Trailer Mechanic at UPS, you will play a crucial role in keeping our trailers in top condition and ensuring they are ready for the road.   1. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on UPS trailers to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  2. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues on trailers, utilizing technical knowledge and experience.
  3. Utilize tools and equipment to complete repairs and replacements of trailer components.
  4. Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed on trailers.
  5. Monitor and maintain inventory of parts and supplies needed for trailer maintenance and repairs.
  6. Work closely with other mechanics and team members to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance.
  7. Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while working on trailers.
  8. Conduct regular inspections of trailers to identify potential issues and address them proactively.
  9. Stay up-to-date on industry developments and advancements in trailer technology.
  10. Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and resolve any issues or concerns.
  11. Collaborate with other departments such as transportation and logistics to coordinate trailer maintenance and repair schedules.
  12. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  13. Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.
  14. Keep up-to-date with training and certifications required for the role.
  15. Attend team meetings and provide input for continuous improvement of processes and procedures related to trailer maintenance.

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge Of Trailer Maintenance And Repair: A Successful Candidate For The Trailer Mechanic Job At Ups Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Trailer Maintenance And Repair Processes, Including Brake Systems, Suspension, And Electrical Components.

  • Experience With Diagnostic Tools And Software: The Ability To Use Diagnostic Tools And Software To Identify And Troubleshoot Mechanical Issues Is Essential For This Role. Familiarity With Programs Such As Mitchell 1 Or Prodemand Is Preferred.

  • Proficiency In Welding And Fabrication: Trailer Mechanics At Ups Must Be Skilled In Welding And Fabrication To Perform Repairs And Modifications To Trailers. This Includes The Ability To Read And Interpret Blueprints And Schematics.

  • Physical Strength And Endurance: The Job Of A Trailer Mechanic At Ups Can Be Physically Demanding, Requiring The Ability To Lift Heavy Objects And Work In Tight Spaces. Candidates Should Be In Good Physical Condition And Able To Perform Physically Demanding Tasks.

  • Communication And Teamwork Skills: Trailer Mechanics At Ups Work In A Team Environment And Must Be Able To Communicate Effectively With Coworkers And Supervisors. Strong Teamwork Skills Are Necessary To Ensure The Timely And Efficient Completion Of Repairs And Maintenance Tasks.
