
Teacher - Deaf and Hard of Hearing
The University of Vermont Medical Center is seeking an experienced Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students to join our team. We are a comprehensive, tertiary care hospital and academic medical center providing excellent patient care to the residents of Vermont and Northern New York. We strive to create a supportive environment for our students and staff, and are looking for a compassionate, dedicated educator to join our ranks.The ideal candidate is a certified teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing, with a Bachelor’s degree in education and at least five years of related experience working with students who are deaf and hard of hearing. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, a commitment to developing individualized educational plans, and the ability to advocate for students and their families. Candidates must also have a strong background in curriculum development, technology integration, and assessment, as well as experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans for students who are deaf and hard of hearing.
- Utilize current technology and resources to integrate into student education plans.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure students’ academic and social success.
- Monitor and assess student progress in relation to individualized plans.
- Advocate for students and their families in order to provide them with the best educational experience.
- Develop and implement curriculum and lesson plans.
- Utilize current best practices in teaching deaf and hard of hearing students.
- Provide mentorship to other teachers and staff in the area of deaf and hard of hearing education.
Bachelor's Degree In Education Of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing
Knowledge Of American Sign Language
